When you build something that needs to last and stay functional for many different industries on Norway’s weather-exposed west coast, the quality standard is set from the start. Hytrans’ aluminium cabinets set a benchmark for anyone who needs durable storage solutions for both small and large vehicles.
We manufacture to your requested dimensions in all sizes, from the smallest cabinet to 20-foot containers.
– Of course we’re proud of what we’ve achieved, says Kjell Magne Thorshaug, Managing Director at Hytrans.
– We have access to the world’s best raw material straight from Hydro’s aluminium plant, which we are co-located with. We also have a very demanding industry and related sectors around us. On top of that, we’re basically surrounded by sea spray nine months of the year. All of this pushes us to invest in quality, he continues.
The benefits of aluminium when building cabinets for vehicles, and eventually also for ships and platforms, are obvious. The material does not rust, it is light to transport, and it is easy to work with.
– Aluminium is a fantastic and strong metal to build cabinets from. The fact that it is virtually rust-free and very light are crucial advantages.
Confirmed by the customer

Paltek is part of Palfinger and builds bodies and equipment for crane trucks, service vehicles, and both small and large vehicles used in transport. From Hytrans, they mainly receive cabinets that are mounted on vehicles for dry, organised storage of equipment and workwear.
– It’s a bit like a mobile mini-warehouse on the vehicle, says Stangeland.
Everything Hytrans produces for Paltek is essentially custom work, in the sense that nothing is exactly the same from one vehicle to the next. Some solutions go straight from the drawing board and are built for the first time.
– We have a customer responsible for maintenance of several hundred bus shelters. Among other things, they collect waste from the bins in the shelters. For this, they needed small, flexible refuse vehicles with cabinets and a tipper. We developed it together with Hytrans. The customer is extremely satisfied, Stangeland says.
Partnerships that matter
Paltek was established in 2007. Today, the company has 25–30 employees and surpassed NOK 100 million in revenue last year. For them, the collaboration with Hytrans has been important.
– A lot of what we order from them, we could probably have made ourselves. Still, we’ve chosen to let Hytrans do it, because it creates better flow in our own production, and we’ve never experienced that there’s something they can’t deliver.
– The fact that we’ve worked together for several years also shows that they deliver quality. The cabinets we install on the vehicles we deliver usually outlast the vehicles themselves, and that’s a very good thing, Stangeland concludes.
