N. Vangs in Inderøy, Trøndelag, is one of Norway’s largest manufacturers of trailers designed to transport the biggest machines. Drive-on ramps from Hytrans make the trailers even more flexible and user-friendly for Vangs’ customers.
– When you’re building a transport trailer for large wheel loaders, dumpers, or forestry machines, you want what we call wheel wells. They make the load safer, more stable, and lower on the trailer. Even though this is important, it also limits what the trailer can be used for. With Hytrans’ drive-on ramps, our trailers become even more flexible transport solutions, says Kristoffer Klepp at Vangs.
– The challenge, however, is that no trailer is exactly the same as the previous one. Thanks to Hytrans’ expertise in custom manufacturing, we can still offer complete ramp solutions for Vangs, says Tore Steinsøy, Sales Manager at Hytrans.
Aluminium is the solution
Vangs’ goal is to build the lightest trailers on the market.
For us, aluminium – where it can be used – is essential. We build light to reduce environmental impact, cut fuel consumption, carry more cargo, and minimise wear on tyres and equipment. Aluminium is therefore an important contribution to reaching these goals, Klepp explains.

The driver’s preferences matter
Hytrans’ ability to deliver custom solutions is also a key success factor for Vangs.
– Everyone would love for there to be standard measurements for everything we build, but that’s not how it is. Quite the opposite. We need custom work right down to millimetre precision, and many times the specifications and wishes come directly from the driver. We often say our trailers are handcrafted, because there are so many specific adaptations, says Klepp.
– That’s why a partner who can deliver on this is extremely important to us, and Hytrans is truly strong here, says Klepp.
Another important factor for Vangs is safety. Loading and unloading are two very critical moments during transport. Millimetre precision and tailored solutions are part of that. The equipment must withstand the stresses it’s exposed to and remain stable. Accidents are dangerous for personnel and extremely costly.
